Dear St. Thomas’,

This topsy-turvy summer canceled my original vacation plans, to take some rest and to visit family in Texas. Nevertheless, rest is important, and doubly so in times of stress.

I will be “out of the office” for the next few weeks. You can still call the pastoral care line (856.881.2841) for assistance: Deacon John will field your calls. The Rev. Ryan Paetzold will supply at Sunday services for the next two weeks, and Deacon John will lead liturgy on the third. Our online schedule of worship and fellowship will remain the same as it has been: I invite you to participate in whatever ways make sense for you.

As I return, I am hopeful that we can begin trying out celebrating the Eucharist together, perhaps outdoors at first. Our life together is going to be different than it was, but God will be there, too.

I wish you a safe and restful August.

Faithfully,

Todd+

Daily Morning Prayer is still offered as an audio podcast from St. Thomas’, Monday through Saturday (with a video on Sundays). Be sure to listen to Deacon John’s excellent homily for yesterday, the Feast of the Transfiguration.

Beginning this Sunday our Deacon Intern, Jeannie Marcucci, will lead a class for two weeks on Just and Proper Use: A Small Study in Eco-Spirituality. You can download a copy of the booklet.

Sunday School for children at St. Thomas’ is taking the summer off, as is our normal rhythm. However, the Diocese of New Jersey is continuing to offer an online option: check it out!

Kitchen of Hope’s mission of combating food insecurity is more important than ever during this time of mass unemployment. Therefore we will be offering food distributions on two different Saturdays in August: the second and the fourth (8 August and 22 August). Volunteers are needed but you must sign up with Vivian H. and come only during your assigned shift so that we may continue to comply with state and Diocesan guidelines on social distancing!

Read a letter from the House of Bishops July 2020: A Word on Protest and Federal Policing.

Congratulations to Devin D. who passed his medical boards with flying colors!

The Fall Flea Market will not be held this year.

Announcements for the bulletin or parish email are due into the office by noon on Wednesday of each week. You can email them to Sarah Ternay or call the office at 856-881-9144. Announcements are subject to editing due to limited space.
